Lower East Side and SoHo Art Tours
The Lower East Side/ LES Gallery District, anchored by the New Museum, is perfect for those who prefer exploring edgier or more up-and coming contemporary art. ART SMART will guide you through the most popular, respected, and relevant art galleries while selecting options according to your tastes. Among our recommended favorites galleries are Canada, Eleven Rivington, Miquel Abreau, James Fuentes, Salon 94 and On Stellar Rays.
For those wanting to have a guided tour of Soho art galleries, we’ll include visits to Spencer Brownstone and Artists Space and the other non-profit art galleries that thrive here.
What to Expect
We can visit about 8-10 art galleries during your guided two-hour tour, or explore longer and more if you prefer. We put the gallery and works in context in a manner that invites discovery and discussion. Along the way, you’ll get an overview of the Lower East Side/ LES art gallery scene. As we do not offer public group tours, all of our tours are private tours. Your tour will be led by a qualified art historian with a background in modern and contemporary art and experience in the field.
During the customization process, you can let us know your preference in:
- media (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.)
- tendency towards emerging talents or internationally acclaimed artists
- interest in touring the New Museum
For those interested in purchasing works of art, we can arrange for a behind-the-scenes viewing of galleries’ larger holdings.
Pricing Questions
Private tours for 1 – 4 people in your group booked online* start at $225 per hour (a 5% discount over tours booked via email or phone). All tours have a two-hour minimum. Additional people and/or additional time have an additional fee. Museum admission needs to be added for each person. This is added during your booking. We will get your tickets ahead of time for you. So you can skip the lines!
* For those who need a bit more service via email and phone, our pricing begins at $225 per hour for 1 – 4 people. Larger groups are $50 per adult, $25 per child.
